Is bigger really better? Is large, really in charge? Public school across America are trying to figure this out. There are detrimental consequences happening in today’s public education such as declining enrollment, a decrease in funding and high demands for accountability and results. School consolidation has been put on the table as an option for improving efficiency, student achievement, and economic stability. Although, What is the purpose of school consolidation? Is school consolidation the answer to educational reform? Some school advocates believe it is the only option for failing schools across the country. On the other hand, school consolidation could mean alienating students from their communities, long bus rides, loss of local control and broken promises of achievement and money saved.
